Friends and family might have given you advice.  It might have even sounded like good advice. But they don’t seem to understand what you’re experiencing, or why their advice doesn’t help.

You might think to yourself, “there must be a way for this to get better”. But you haven’t figured it out yet.  Some days you are more hopeful than others.

Is therapy the answer?

You may have hesitations about therapy.  Maybe a part of you thinks therapy might be “just talking”, with no real results. 

Why should you sit down and tell a complete stranger all of your problems? And spill your guts about all of your shameful, embarrassing, and painful experiences?

The right therapist can help you make sense of it all.

Working with a therapist is different than talking to a friend or family member. 

The therapist’s role is to work to understand how you experience the world from the inside, and then work with you to help resolve your issues or move forward. 

It is not to give empty advice on how you should think about things, or how you should feel.

It is also not just talking about your day. 

Yes, part of therapy is putting words to the way you feel. And believe it or not, this in and of itself can be quite helpful.  

But that’s not all it is…

While open-ended exploration can be valuable and has its place, it is also important to have defined focuses in therapy.

That way, you and your therapist can continually tracking your progress or roadblocks along the way.  This is a crucial part of effective therapy.

Telehealth therapy offers a unique opportunity to receive counseling conveniently, and is compatible with various lifestyles and busy schedules. Due to licensure requirements, counseling is only available for people who live in Texas.
